BJP has very high regards for Sikh Gurus: Sat  

BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma, who addressed a massive gathering of Sikh Sangat on the auspicious occasion of Parkash Parb of Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Gurudwara Yadgar Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji at Chand Nagar in Jammu city, said that it is the duty of present generation to preserve and maintain the literature related to the lives of great saints, spiritual and religious personalities for the future generations.

Sat Sharma said that the party has very high regards for the Sikh Gurus and it highly appreciates the initiative for setting up of Guru Gobind Singh Chair at Jammu University. He said that the BJP will provide Rs. 50 lakh towards setting up of the said Chair as it is of the view that research work should be undertaken for minute study of the life of Guru Gobind Singh and provide a study centre for the people so that they can get themselves well informed about the bravery and the supreme sacrifices of such a great Guru. The BJP-led NDA government under PM Narendra Modi had last year provided rupees one hundred crore in the budget for celebration programmes related to 350th birth centenary year of Guru Govind Singh, which any government has done for the first time in the history of India.

Sat Sharma said that a study on the life of Guru Gobind Singh need to be conducted and important developments of his life need to be compiled for the future. He said that Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Sikh Guru, was spiritual master, warrior, poet and philosopher, who sacrificed his sons in wars against Mughals.

He said that the historic contribution of Guru Gobind Singh to Sikhism was founding the Sikh warrior community called Khalsa and introducing the Five Ks, the five articles of faith that Khalsa Sikhs wear at all times. Guru Gobind Singh also continued the formalisation of the religion, wrote important Sikh texts and enshrined the scripture the Guru Granth Sahib as Sikhism’s eternal Guru.

Speaker, J&K Assembly Kavinder Gupta, State General Secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul, MLC S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa also accompanied the State President and addressed the sangat on the occasion.
