BJP Spokesperson lambasts Omar Abdullah

BJP State Spokesperson Prof. Virender Gupta while reacting to the statement of Omar Abdullah that PDP-BJP alliance has betrayed the mandate, said that it does not behove to a person who as Chief Minister has utterly failed on all fronts and who along with his co-partner in the government, were thrown out of power by the people of the state. He said that there was no option for Omar except to sit in the opposition with having merely 15 MLAs and added that Omar now smells danger in BJP-PDP alliance but how much danger he contributed to the state and the Nation when he and his party NC, were in alliance with BJP and he became the minister in Vajpayee’s government.

Prof. Virender Gupta reminded Omar Abdullah of his helplessness and apathy, when Jammu & Kashmir faced devastating flood and he could not convene the cabinet meeting days together to meet the situation. The Spokesperson said that during his period as Chief Minister no special efforts were made to generate employment in the state, there was great resentment among the youth against the policy framed to recruit the youth on adhoc basis for five years, no special efforts were made in the health sector, in the matters of development, in improving the road connectivity and in the social sector of public welfare.

The present PDP-BJP government is working on large scale on road connectivity, in generation of power, in generation of employment and starting good number of welfare schemes for the poor and down trodden people of the society, such as giving financial help to widows, helping poor in the marriage of their daughters under ‘Ladi Beti Scheme’ increasing the Old Age Pension from Rs. 200 to Rs. 1000, special transport facilities for females have been provided in capital cities of the state. The present state government got sanctioned AIIMS, IIT, IIM, Mass Communication, Law University, 6 Medical Colleges, 6 Indoor Stadiums, apart from starting the Cluster Universities. He added other welfare schemes like ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’, ‘Mudra Bank’, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, ‘Skill India’, ‘Start Up’, ‘Ujjwala’ and ‘Ujala’ etc. of the Govt. of India have also been made operational in the state. There are other number of projects like better roads connectivity, developing water resources, making Jammu and Srinagar as Smart cities, linking Poonch with Jammu by railways expansion and improvement of Jammu Railway Station are being pursued very vigorously.

Prof. Virender Gupta asked him to shun his narrow parochial policies, behaving as anti-Jammu and anti-nation and working against the sentiments of people of Jammu and Ladakh regions. He also asked him to acknowledge the good works done by Maharaja Hari Singh, honour the sentiments of the people of Jammu region and do not indulge in opposing the demand of State holiday on Maharaja’s Birthday.
