Indira Gandhi’s 1975 emergency a black day on country’s democracy

‘CRPF killing at Pampore unfortunate, PoK part of India, Withdraw security
of Seperatist leaders’

Terming this day as black day in India’s history after
the then Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi misued her official position and
imposed emergency in 1975 in the country, BJP senior leader and MLC Ramesh
Arora said in this day all the rights of civil liberties and fundamental
rights were snatched by declaring emergency in the country.

“It was an attempt to curtail rights of Judiciary including Supreme Court,
Press sencership was imposed and all rights of public were suspended
indefinetely,” Arora told a media gathering here, adding, countiry’s tall
leaders including – Atal Behari Vajpayee, Lal Krishan Advani, Chander
Shekhar , Jai Prakash Narayan, Murarji Desai and many others were arrested.

The BJP leader said that in the state of Jammu and Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad
Abdullah was in the power and MISA (Maintenance of Internal Security Act)
was misused and number of persons were arrested in this state also
including Ramesh Arora, Dr Om Prakash Mengi, Master Dyanchad, Ramesh Papa,
Devinder Shasri, Balnel Dev, Chaman Lal Gupta, Ashok Khajuria, Chander
Mohan Sharma and many others.

“ It was darconic chapter of the history and no one was allowed to say
anything against the government Police was given power to arrest any body
without any warrant,” he said.

Terming yesterday incident painful incident in which as many as 10 CRPF
persons were killed and 20 injured at pampore town. “We appeal the
government to withdraw security of CRPF and other local forces from the
separatist leaders those who have boycotted election in Anantnag where
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti got victory,” he added.
