NC responsible for polarizing J&K people: Prof. Virender

The spokesperson of J&K BJP, Prof. Virender Gupta while reacting to the repeated statements of some of the leaders of National conference, in particularly, those of Devender Singh Rana blaming BJP for the communal divide, regional and religious polarisation said that the allegation lies in NC court. The National Conference right from the day of its foundation followed the policy of regional and religious divide. The policies of National Conference right from the day of accession of Jammu and Kashmir with India, remained parochial and discriminatory against Jammu and Ladakh regions and against the major minority community of the Jammu and Kashmir State. He further added that “This policy of National Conference encouraged the Kashmiri Youth to take the path of extreme fundamentalism which resulted into spread of so called Jehadi terrorism in the state, whereby forcing the Kashmiri Pandits, other minority communities and Muslims believing in secular ethos to leave the Valley”.
He said that “1953 elections for the State Constituent Assembly, the passage of Resettlement Bill in the assembly, not allowing Jammu province to have its due representation in the state assembly, ignoring political voice of Jammu and Ladakh regions in all matters” are some of the examples those reflect the regional cum communal bias that the National Conference is holding and added that National Conference, when it was at the helm of affairs always discriminated the people of Jammu region in the matter of development of the region, allocation of funds, representation in the state services and in the issue of rendering help during natural calamities. Prof. Virender narrated that the role of NC leaders during Shri Amarnath land row, and now showing hesitation in condemning the police violence on the non-local NIT Srinagar students amply speaks of the communally biased attitude of the NC leadership.
