Opposition leaders resorting to falsehood to mislead border resident: BJP

In a statement issued at the Party headquarters today, Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly castigated various opposition leaders, who during their visits to the migrant camps in the recent past have been misleading the border residents with statements like “they have been deceived by the BJP.” Nothing can be far from truth than such false and irresponsible statements by these opposition leaders, retorted Brig Anil Gupta, Spokesperson of the Party, while releasing the press note. Bharatiya Janata Party unlike the other parties does not believe in false promises and has a mechanism in place to monitor fulfillment of promises made to the public. The press note contains point by point rebuttal of the false allegations made by the opposition leaders and gives out the facts. As far as the issue of construction of bunkers is concerned, phase one of the project has already commenced and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India (GOI) has already released 20 crore for construction of sixty bunkers. District administration, Jammu, is fully involved in the project. The project has been temporarily suspended by the administration due to certain technical difficulties like low water level, which is being resolved through re-sitting of the bunkers. Prime Minister Modi is taking personal interest in the Project and is given regular update by the MOS (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh.

As far as allotment of 5 marla plots is concerned, Brig Gupta ridiculed the statement of a NC leader that then National Conference government headed by Omar Abdullah had recommended to the GOI to allot 5 to 6 marlas of land to each family living along the border. “The NC leader needs to know that land is to be allotted by the State Government and not by GOI, he is simply telling lies to earn the sympathy of the people, lamented Brig Gupta. The factual position is that 80 kanal of land had been allotted by the government in Hiranagar tehsil during the tenure of Shahid Iqbal, then DC Kathua. However, the security forces had raised an objection on the grounds of security of the border belt and the issue is pending since then. The security forces are not in favour of allotment of plots that may lead to migration from border areas creating security problem.

Bharatiya Janata Party has even taken the initiative of constructing state of the art 3 in 1 toilets in the border belt to mitigate the problem faced by the women folk. 1140 toilets are being built in phase one out of which more than hundred have already been completed in the border villages of Hiranagar. The excreta from these toilets is to be recycled to produce natural manure and bio-gas thus benefitting the local farmers and households. The fact is that these toilets are being built at the initiative of local BJP M.P. Dr. Jitendra Singh, without a single penny being spent from the state or central exchequer. Brig Gupta also highlighted that the BJP government has already introduced a special insurance scheme for the border residents. They would also be provided same benefits for losses during cross border firing as is available to the residents of LOC.
