Opposition parties’ meeting Prez is a political drama: Balbir

Leaders in rat race to remain in news, skipped meetings called by govt

BJP State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan has lambasted the opposition parties in J&K for not extending cooperation to the PDP-BJP alliance government efforts in restoration of peace and normalcy in the state, which is witnessing unrest for over a month now. Instead of coming forth and extending any fruitful cooperation, the opposition parties are playing to gallery, BJP leader said adding that seeking a meeting with the President Pranab Mukherjee is nothing but only their enactment of political drama.
Balbir Ram Rattan, while hitting out at them said that leaders of Congress, NC and CPI were only in a rat race of remaining in news; they have rather played negative role and incited the people by their statements instead of helping the government to control the situation. Substantiating his point, he said there had been number of occasions after trouble erupted in the valley when All Party Meetings were called at different levels for putting united efforts to bring normalcy. “ In one of the meetings called by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, NC stayed away and in the other meeting called by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, it was the Congress which boycotted it”, Balbir said.
One fails to understand why these leaders held separate meeting and decided to meet President to submit Memorandum, the BJP leader pointed out while terming it merely a Political Drama.
The BJP Spokesperson further said that these parties were only misleading the people of the valley and it was astonishing to note that none from these parties ever appealed the misguided youth in Kashmir to desist from violence nor did they showed any concern or yearning for restoring peace.
“These instances clearly indicate that Congress, NC and others are shedding crocodile tears on the present situation, having least concern in the restoration of peace and normalcy”, said Balbir.
He further pointed out that there is no purpose of holding dialogue with the concerned groups/individuals in the present situation. Referring to one of the demands made by the opposition, Balbir said that present situation does not warrant holding judicial enquiry into the causes of unrest or circumstances in which the people lost their lives. The NC and Congress should first apply this to the loss of lives during the era when they ruled the state, BJP leader said and asked how many enquires were conducted for 1990, 2008 and 2010 turmoils by the NC-Congress governments in the state and UPA government at the centre at that time.
