Peace imperative for development of J&K: Yudhvir Sethi

Opposition should be constructive.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice President Yudhvir Sethi  said that peace was imperative for development of J&K State for which people must contribute and even the opposition should be constructive. The role of opposition should primarily be to highlight critical areas and not add fuel to fire in any volatile situation be it Kashmir unrest or anything else wherein people are incited to resort to undemocratic means of protests or made to fall in wrong hands.

Mr Sethi was addressing party workers as part of Vistarak Yojana at Baramullah in connection with centenary celebrations to mark birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay. He said Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhaya always believed in putting nation first, society second and family third. The opposition must also follow such principles and contribute in restoring peace in Kashmir for overall growth of nation as well as people.

During his extensive tour of Baramulla area the BJP Vice President urged party functionaries to work relentlessly and carry message peace and development practised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in every nook and corner of the state. The union government during past three years had done its best to revive tourism in J&K State by building longest Tunnel, constructing roads, establishing development authorities and organising international and national level meets.

Many more such projects are in pipeline and people should be made aware of all such developmental schemes aimed at helping them prosper. He said that opposition must rise above petty politics and stop instigating youth for their vested interests. Tourism in Kashmir has suffered a lot and there is an intense need of reviving it to the extent that besides domestic tourists we get travellers from international destinations arriving here.

Kashmir being an integral part of India is on priority list of Prime Minister and he is going to ensure that this jewelled crown of our country is made to progress and prosper by all means. He also intends to see youth develop and become job givers by utilising all state as well as central schemes aimed at helping them setup their own units in different sectors be it tourism, industry or handicrafts and weaving industries.

Criticising those encouraging stone pelting, Yudhvir Sethi said a negligible number of misguided youth are being used by anti-social elements to grind their axe which should be condemned and a right atmosphere set up wherein youth could put in use different schemes meant for them only and be part of Kashmir’s peace and development. The lost glory of Kashmir, he added can be revived only if youth become part of these mega development schemes.

He informed the Vistaraks present in meeting that this mass contact programme named Vistarak Yojana is part of party chief Amit Shah’s programme wherein several thousand vistaraks (fulltime workers) are going to apprise people of party’s programmes and policies in days to come.He stressed upon the need of taking up ‘Vistar Yojna’ in a big way and expand the party on the ground.
