PoJK Refugees must be included in the Pahari Reservation: Dr. Narinder Singh

J&K BJP State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh batted for the inclusion of PoJK Refugees in the reservation benefit extended to the Pahari speaking people.

Pertinent to mention that J&K State Cabinet approved the J&K Reservation (amendment) Bill 18 of 2014 that extends 3 percent reservation to the Pahari Community.

Dr. Singh said that it is a matter of appreciation that all the Paharis could enjoy the benefits which will be accorded to them after this. This would provide an equal platform to the Paharis like those of SC/ST/OBC for competing in this fast world.

But at the same time Dr. Singh pointed out that the refugee population from Pakistan occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) which includes population from Poonch, Mirpur, Muzzafarabad etc. must also be considered for the above benefit. He batted for their inclusion in the list citing the reason that the PoJK population has been victimized for decades together for absolute no fault of theirs and have been at the receiving end of the circumstances due to continued apathy of the governments and various departments.

He said that the plight of these people must not go unheard and should be taken care of at the earliest possible opportunities.

Dr. Singh pointed out that BJP has always stood for their cause through odds and even. He claimed that for the very first time BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken concrete steps for the settlement of all the issues of this population by taking swift measures like compensation and all.

Dr. Singh also concentrated on the fact that the Indian Parliament has established about the PoJK being the indispensable part of India and as such to serve the interests of the refugees from the area comes to be the first duty of Governmental agencies.
