Sat Sharma raises question of Chamel Singh in Zero hou

During zero hour in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly session, BJP State President and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) raised the question regarding awarding of compensation to the family of Late Chamel Singh and martyr status to him as well. Late Chamel Singh was resident of Pargwal Mulo of Block Akhnoor who died in Kot Lakhpath Jail of Lahore, Pakistan on  January 15, 2013. Sharma raised the important issue during the zero hour while Deputy Speaker was on chair.

Sharma raised the issue regarding the compensation to the family of the deceased. It is pertinent to mention that Chamel Singh was killed in Kot Lakhpath jail in Pakistan by the Jail authorities which was the same as the case of Sarabjeet Singh of Punjab where Punjab State Government paid Rs. 1 crore and Central Govt. paid Rs. 25 Lakhs to the family of Late Sarabjeet Singh and also awarded jobs to his daughters but the then Omar Abdullah led NC-Congress Government in Jammu and Kashmir failed to compensate the family of Chamel Singh despite of countless representations made by the family. The issue regarding this has been raised timely by BJP President Sat Sharma (CA).

Sharma also stated that various representations were also given to former Deputy Chief Minister in this regard who was also the MLA of Khour Constituency at that time but not even a single step was taken in this regard by either of the representatives in the previous State Government.

He appealed to the representatives of the present Coalition Government in the State to keenly look into the matter of Late Chamel Singh who died for his motherland and stated that a suitable compensation should be given to the family of Chamel Singh and a martyr status to him should be given as well so that the condition of his family could improve who are working in the fields of other people under miserable conditions.
