Tehsil Ramgarh witnessed whirlwind Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign

A whirl wind Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign was carried out in tehsil Ramgarh district Samba having the lowest Child Sex Ratio (CSR) in state. Led by S. S. Bijral former Inspector General of Police and state Convener of the project, the team comprised of Kamal Choudhary, Anju Dogra, both members of the state committee.
The campaign was started from Govt. Hr. Sec. School Ramgarh soon after their morning assembly. It was followed by campaign in Govt Girls High School Ramgarh; then at Guru Nanak Dev Public Hr. Sec School and concluded at Nav Bharat Public High School of village Kamor Ramgarh.
S. S. Bijral former IGP, the main speaker throughout made the startling revelation that Samba distt. had the lowest CSR of 779 girls against 1000 boys as per 2011 census. This was against 918 of national average. He said with census being 5 years old it would not be surprising the ratio to have fallen further. High lighting crisis situation in the district he stressed on need to get this message across every home for correcting early correction, as this falling CSR would be complicating life of coming generation. Conveying this to the students he said it was in their interest that they started raising voice of conern. Raising slogan “ Beti Ki Lalkar, Desh Ki Lalkar”, he asked youth to respect, encourage and strengthen girls in their own families for they stood as valuable as boys in nation building.
Kamal Choudhary highlighted the perspective from fathers side and said it was the woman always that opted to abort the female foetus as stood revealed from Haryana survey. He asked the girl students the future mothers to change the mind set as female foeticide was the worst crime.
Anju Dogra who conducted proceedings at all functions attributed the menace of female foeticide to dowry system, domestic violence against women, and insecurity outside. She called upon the society to control this vice of the system. To recognise the merit of girl students and to encourage them, medals were awarded to 7 Girls at Govt Hr. Sec. School under principal Navin Rajput, 8 medals at Govt Girls High School under principal Swaran Singh , 3 students at Guru Nanak Dev Public High School under its MD & Principal Jarnail Singh Khalsa, and 12 medals at Nav Bharat Public High School under MD & Principal Sunil Choudhary. All the principals highly appreciated the strenuous effort made by the team in getting this crucial message across society.
