Why is CM indifferent to martyrs: Prof. Virender

BJP State Spokesperson Prof. Virender Gupta expressed his serious concern on the news item appearing in a daily newspaper that the martyrs, who laid down their lives for the cause of the nation, while defending the J&K State from the Pakistan misadventures and from those who are indulging in terrorism causing destruction in the valley by killing innocents and disturbing the peace of the valley, are getting mere sympathies while stone pelters are honoured in J&K. It is indeed very unfortunate that the stone pelters and the terrorists are being rewarded. Soft and friendly approach towards those staging proxy war against the nation at the behest of enemy or those who indulge in anti-social or anti-national activities on their instigation is really hurting. It is distressing that no announcement has been made for the compensation to any of the families of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in defending the sovereignty of the country, whereas CM in recently concluded assembly session announced compensation of rupees 5 lakh to the kith and kins of the stone pelters and others, who died while indulging in violence and law breaking activities.

He narrated that Havaldar Ravi Paul and Subedar Karnail Singh who got martyred in Uri attack, Rifleman Ravi Kumar and others had not received any compensation from the state government.

Prof. Virender Gupta said that it is shocking to know that anti-national and anti-social elements are preferred over the martyrs by the government but the BJP as a party has always stood for the cause and honour of the families whose sons lay down their lives while fighting the militancy. The party has always been in forefront in providing financial assistance to such families on its own and recently it gave rupees five lakh each to the two families of Uri attack, which is itself testimony of the concern of BJP towards martyrs.
